A video for Chris Young‘s new single, “‘Til The Last One Dies,” is out! The song is the first single from his forthcoming, still-untitled new album.
“I just thought the message on this one was so perfect,” Young tells Audacy. “I went to every single one of my friends, male, female, whatever, that were married or in a relationship, and they were all just blown away by this song, so I was like, ‘Okay, we gotta go with this one first. It’s just too perfect.”
The song is a refreshing first for Young, who hasn’t done a song this romantic in a long time.
“I haven’t really done a true wedding-style love song for many, many years, surprisingly,” Young says. “I’ve had some ballads out there, but not one that has this kind of impact. And I just got in the studio, and it just came to life. So it was a really, really easy process once we found this song.”
Young is celebrating a career first with “‘Til The Last One Dies.” The song was the most-added at country radio when it was released. It also received the most first-week adds of any of his singles throughout his 19-year career.
“I have loved ‘Til The Last One Dies’ from the first time I heard it, and I’m blown away by this response,” Young says. “Not only most added with 94 combined stations on, but also the BIGGEST week one add day of my CAREER with 93 stations coming in on day one! Thank you Country Radio and thank you Black River Entertainment!!!! Let’s hope everyone plays this song… Til The Last One Dies!”
Young just gave an exciting new update about his album, his first on Black River Entertainment.
“I figured I was going to have a bunch of time off at the end of last year, and the beginning of this year,” Young tells Country 102.5. “That went right out the window. Everybody was immediately all in. We were taking meetings. I was holed up in the studio making this new album. There’s going to be a new album out at some point this year, so just constantly tracking stuff and getting ready for this song to come out. Filming stuff and doing photos, on top of playing shows … It’s just been full speed ahead, and it’s been amazing to see the support I’ve gotten from everybody over at Black River. It’s just really, really awesome.”
Young writes many, but not all, of his own songs. “‘Til The Last One Dies” was written by Ben Hayslip, Seth Mosley, and Jordan Walker.
“It’s not the only one that’s going to be on the project that I wasn’t a writer on,” Young reveals. “I’ve had songs before that have been singles that I wasn’t a writer on. I obviously sang and produced this one. But I found it. Someone played it for me right after these guys wrote it, and I was just like, ‘Oh God. That’s really, really good. I gotta cut that.”
