Chris Young is teasing a brand-new song on social media, and it seems to be about his faith. The Tennessee native shared a portion of a new tune, “If That Ain’t God,” which says in part, “If that ain’t God / If that ain’t Him / If that ain’t the man upstairs somewhere looking down on us again / Don’t it make you wanna pray / Don’t it make you wanna live / Oh if that ain’t God, if that ain’t God, I don’t know what is.”

The song is likely on Chris’ upcoming Raised on Country album. The record, which is expected to be released later this year, includes the title track and another personal song, “Drowning,” written about the loss of one of the singer’s close friends, Adam, who was killed in a car accident.
“It was very heavy and emotional, but in a good way, kind of a cathartic way,” Chris told Billboard of the Top 20 song. “And we were putting together a puzzle because we wanted this to be right. Writing a song about people that you’ve lost, you want it to be, you know, written to the wall.”
Chris will perhaps perform “If That Ain’t God” this weekend, when he takes the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, along with Brett Young and Chris Janson. The artists will perform to an empty venue, since the Grand Ole Opry is closed to the public, at least through June 30, due to the coronavirus pandemic. The show can be streamed online and via Circle at circleplus.com. It can also be heard on the WSM website, the WSM mobile app and on 650 AM WSM.
