Chris Young’s ”Til The Last One Dies’ Is the Most-Added Song at Country Radio

Chris Young officially has a hit at radio. The Grand Ole Opry member just released “‘Til The Last One Dies,” a romantic love song that is also Young’s first on Black River Entertainment. Not only is the song the most-added of any country song released, but it also marks his highest first-week debut throughout his almost 20 years in country music.

“I have loved ‘Til The Last One Dies’ from the first time I heard it, and I’m blown away by this response,” Young says. “Not only most added with 94 combined stations on, but also the BIGGEST week one add day of my CAREER with 93 stations coming in on day one! Thank you Country Radio and thank you Black River Entertainment!!!! Let’s hope everyone plays this song… Til The Last One Dies!”

Young’s excitement is understandable. For an artist who works really, really hard, to see it pay off so well with his “‘Til The Last One Dies” thrilling for him.

“I’ve had fourteen number ones and a handful of top fives,” Young tells Country 102.5. “And this is the most we’ve ever gotten week one. It’s just wild.”

Young knew right away that “‘Til The Last One Dies” was a hit.

“I just thought the message on this one was so perfect,” Young tells Audacy of the song, written by Ben Hayslip, Seth Mosley, and Jordan Walker. “I went to every single one of my friends, male, female, whatever, that were married or in a relationship, and they were all just blown away by this song, so I was like, ‘Okay, we gotta go with this one first. It’s just too perfect.'”

The Tennessee native announced late last year that he was leaving his longtime record label, RCA Reocrds, to move to Black River Entertainment. While he is still working on his first record for his new label, he knew that “‘Til The Last One Dies” was the perfect song to introduce his next set of tunes.

“It is a straight down the middle love song that I fell in love with the very first time I heard it,” Young tells iHeart. “It’s one of the few on the record that I did not take part in writing, but I wish that I had written this idea. It’s just an incredible song.”

Young is also a talented songwriter, penning many of his own hits. Still, the fact that he didn’t write “‘Til The Last One Dies” did little to dissuade him from putting the song on his new record.

“I had a friend pitch me the song,” Young recalls. “This is one of the few that’s on the record that I was not a co-writer on, but got a chance to sing it and produce it with my buddy, Andy [Sheridan]. I think if I was going to say why I was drawn to this song, not only is it a very new way to say ‘I love you’ to somebody in song form,. My favorite line is the line leading up to the hook, saying that he bought  ‘A dozen roses …11 real ones, one fake one, and I’ll love you ’til the last one dies.’”
