Cody Johnson, Carrie Underwood + More Nominated for American Music Awards

The American Music Awards nominations are out, with Cody Johnson leading the list of country artists with three nods. The “Human” singer is nominated for Favorite Male Country Artist, Favorite Country Album, for Human: The Double Album, and Favorite Country Song, for “‘Til You Can’t,”

Numerous other artists received two nods. Carrie Underwood is nominated for both Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Album, for Denim & Rhinestones.

Chris Stapleton is nominated for Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song, with “You Should Probably Leave.” Luke Combs is competing against Stapleton in both categories, with his latest Growin’ Up album also nominated. Walker Hayes is also nominated in both categories, with his Country Stuff: The Album.

Morgan Wallen is in the running for Favorite Male Country Artist, along with a nomination for Favorite Country Song, with “Wasted on You.”

Lainey Wilson, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift are each nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist, while Dan + Shay, Lady A, Old Dominion, Parmalee and the Zac Brown Band are each nominated for Favorite Country Duo or Group.

Swift received another nomination, for Favorite Country Album, with her Red (Taylor’s Version) record. The Pennsylvania native received a total of three nominations, including in the all-genre Artist of the Year.

Other Favorite Country Song nominations include Dustin Lynch with  MacKenzie Porter, and their “Thinking ‘Bout You” duet, and Jordan Davis with Luke Bryan, and their “Buy Dirt” collaboration.

Other nominees include Anne Wilson, for KING & COUNTRY, Katy Nichole, Matthew West and Phil Wickham, nominated for Favorite Inspirational Artist. See a complete list of nominees here.

The American Music Awards will take place less than two weeks after the CMA Awards. Johnson received four CMA Awards nominations, for New Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Video of the Year, for “‘Til You Can’t,” as well as Male Vocalist of the Year.

“Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve watched my heroes accept CMA awards; to be nominated for four is an absolute honor!” Johnson said of his multiple nods. “I stand for a unique brand of authentic country music, and to see it being recognized on such a huge platform makes all the years of hard work worth it!”

The 2022 AMAs will air live from Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Nov. 20 at 8:00 PM ET. The show will air on ABC.
