Cody Johnson is officially a CMA Awards winner! The Texan just won his first trophy, for Music Video of the Year, for his recent No. 1 hit, “‘Til You Can’t.” Johnson will also perform the song during tonight’s ceremony.

Johnson is nominated in three other categories this year. The 35-year-old is also nominated for Single of the Year, for “‘Til You Can’t,” New Artist of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.
“Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve watched my heroes accept CMA awards; to be nominated for four is an absolute honor!” Johnson said of his multiple nominations. “I stand for a unique brand of authentic country music, and to see it being recognized on such a huge platform makes all the years of hard work worth it!”
“‘Til You Can’t” was written by Matthew J. Rogers and Ben Stennis. The song is from Johnson’s Human: The Double Album, released last fall.
“We were like, ’This needs to be a message,’” Johnson said, via CMT, of including it on The Double Album. “If you’ve got a chance, take the chance. Go out and chase your dreams until you can’t. Every one of us, you try not to think about it every day, but we all have an expiration date. From now until that expiration date, it’s about chase your dreams, take your chance, tell people you love that you love them. It turned into this happy, anthemic experience.”
Johnson will release a new live album, Cody Johnson & The Rockin’ CJB Live, on December 2.
“There is nothing I enjoy more than getting to play live shows with this band,” Johnson says of his new record. “We’ve travelled a lot of miles in the last 15 years and lived a lot of life together. This record is allowing us to deliver a live concert directly to the fans.”
Johnson isn’t the only artist who already has a CMA Award this year. Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde won for Musical Event of the Year, for their “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” collaboration.
Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning will host the 2022 CMA Awards. The show will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 9, at 8:00 PM ET on ABC.
