Cole Swindell Celebrates 13th No. 1 Hit With 'Forever to Me'

Cole Swindell is back at the top of the charts, for the 13th time in his career. The Georgia native is celebrating his 13th No. 1 hit with “Forever to Me,” a song he wrote about his now-wife, Courtney. The song is from Swindell’s latest Spanish Moss album, out on June 27.

“Anytime you get to celebrate a No. 1 song it’s always special for so many reasons,” Swindell says. “Over the years, I’ve found the main reason for me is getting to share it with all the folks that make it possible. A huge thank you to country radio for supporting me through the years and especially for the love on a song that means so much to me and my wife.”

Swindell also recalls writing the song, and what inspired him to pen the romantic track.

“I’m thankful to have written this one with my buddies Greylan James and Rocky Block on a last-minute trip to Texas for the National Championship in early 2024,” Swindell recalls. “We didn’t really set out to write our wedding song, but I remember them asking me about Courtney and me simply saying, ‘She’s forever to me.’ As soon as I said that, we knew that was what we had to write, and the rest is history.”

Swindell also thanks his producers, Jordan Schmidt and James, along with his record label, Warner Music Nashville.

“The fact that I still get to do this 13 No. 1’s later still blows my mind, and I’m forever grateful,” he says.

Swindell and Courtney knew each other when he asked her to be part of his “Some Habits” video, where sparks flew. The father-to-be recalls the moment, in a social media post.

“I never knew a video shoot for a song on my last album would lead to forever,” Swindell writes. “Thank you Country Radio and my entire team for believing in this one and making it my 13th No.1 song.”

Swindell vividly remembers writing “Forever To Me.” He knew the song was special, but could never have predicted how much the song would resonate with his fans.

“The story behind ‘Forever to Me’ is pretty crazy,” Swindell tells iHeartCountry. “I had a show in Texas, before the National Championship, back in January. Before we left, I called my buddy, Greylan James, and said, ‘Man, I just kind of feel like writing this weekend. I have a show in Texas. We’ll go to the National Championship, if you’re cool with that,’”

James called Block to join them, and together they penned one of the biggest songs of Swindell’s career.

“After the show, we were back on the bus, and it was getting pretty late,” Swindell remembers. “We were about to go to bed, and we were talking about me getting married this year. They were like, ‘We can’t believe that. That’s so awesome. We should write your wedding song.’ They were kind of joking. For some reason, they were asking me about Courtney. I said, ‘Man, she’s forever to me.’ I didn’t even really know what I was saying. They looked at each other, and they’re like, ‘Forever to Me.’ We have to write that.'”
