Cole Swindell was fortunate enough to be among the first to hear Randy Travis‘ new song, “Where That Came From,” ahead of its release. Swindell spoke out about the experience on social media, sharing the impact the Country Music Hall of Fame member has had on him and his own career.
“Randy Travis has meant a lot to me over the years,” Swindell says in a video shared on social media. “He was my very first concert and one of the reasons I decided to sign with Warner. It has been such an honor to be able to call him a friend and to be able to hear this song with him for the first time is something I’ll never forget. I have a feeling it’s gonna hit everyone just like it did me. What a voice..what a song. Get ready!”

Swindell has had several of his own hits throughout the years, including “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey,” “You Should Be Here,” “Single Saturday Night” and more. The 40-year-old is back at radio with “Forever to Me,” a song he wrote witih Greylan James and Rocky Block, about his fiancée, Courtney Little.
“As a songwriter, you want to write stuff that’s personal,” Swindell said of the song. “But you also want to write stuff that other people can relate to. And to write a song about something I’ve never been in, until now — I didn’t know if I’d ever get to write a song like this. I just can’t wait for the fans and everybody to hear it, and to see how they relate to it, and who the song makes them think of.
“For this to be a love song,” he added, “and for this to be my wedding song, I don’t know how it gets any bigger than that for me.”
Swindell kicks off his Win the Night Tour later this month, with Dylan Scott serving as his opening act for all dates.
“The fans — I mean, that’s who you miss, that’s who gives you this career, along with radio and all the people on your team that supports you,” Swindel says, explaining his eagerness to return to the road, after taking several months off. “So, I’m ready to get back out there with the folks that have had my back for ten-plus years, and to get back out there and give them the show.
“I’m ready for rehearsal,” he continued. “I’m ready to build a new set, new production. Just all of it. It’s so exciting. I’ve enjoyed some time off, but now it’s driving me crazy not being out there around those fans that I love and we’ll see them soon.”
