Craig Morgan will perform as part of a Memorial Day special at the Grand Ole Opry. The Army veteran will take the stage along with Steven Curtis Chapman and Kellie Pickler, for the Grand Ole Opry Salute The Troops Memorial Day Weekend Special. The show will honor both those serving in the United States military, as well as healthcare workers who are on the frontlines of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
“The days preceding Memorial Day have for years brought with them our annual ‘Salute The Troops’ show and unforgettable moments as we honor and say thank you to those who serve our country,” said Dan Rogers, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Grand Ole Opry. “It’s more important than ever in 2020 that through words and songs we connect fans across the country to recognize the sacrifices of members of the U.S. Military.
“Additionally, this year’s show will offer the opportunity for fans tuned in around the world to honor the troops of essential workers on the frontline of the battles that have changed our world this year, the war on COVID-19,” he added.
Craig was one of the first to perform at the Grand Ole Opry after the shows were closed to the public, due to coronavirus.
“It was really unusual,” Craig told Taste of Country, speaking of playing to an empty venue. “It felt uncomfortable, but the whole time we were doing it I just had to appreciate the millions of people that were watching it and listening to it on the radio.”
Craig will release his next album, God, Family, Country on May 22. The album is available for purchase via his website or at Amazon.
The Grand Ole Opry Salute The Troops Memorial Day Weekend Special will be broadcast live on Circle and Gray TV stations, DISH Studio Channel 102, Sling TV and other TV affiliates in addition to a companion live stream on Circle All Access Facebook and YouTube channels. Bobby Bones will host the Circle telecast. The Opry’s own Mike Terry will host on 650 WSM- AM and SiriusXM.
Keith Urban will perform at the Grand Ole Opry this Saturday, May 16. He will be joined by both Kelsea Ballerini and her husband, Morgan Evans.
