Dan + Shay are still riding high after their ACM Awards win for Duo of the Year at the ACM Awards. Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney walked away with the trophy, a welcome endorsement for the pair that almost gave up on their shared career.
“We just wanted to hop on here and say thank you to each and every one of you guys,’ Smyers begins in a video shared on social media. “This past week has honestly been one of the greatest weeks of our entire career. We flew down to Frisco, Texas the other day, and because of all the support you guys have shown us over the past year with the Bigger Houses album, we took home the Duo of the Year award at the ACMs. Totally surreal.
“What a great night,” he continues, referencing an epic get-together with another fellow winner. “It was great so see all of our country music friends, and celebrate. Thank you, Jelly Roll, for the after-party. We stayed out way past our bedtime. I think we’re still recovering. What a blast.”

Dan + Shay are hoping to follow up their ACM Awards win with another win, this one on The Voice. The duo, who are serving their inaugural season as coaches on The Voice, have one artist in the finale, competing against two on Reba McEntire‘s team, and two on John Legend’s team.
“And tonight, we’ve got The Voice finale,” Smyers says. “We’ve got an artist on our first season on The Voice, our country artist, Karen Waldrup, is in the freaking finale. We want to win this thing.”
Mooney echoed his singing partner’s sentiments, urging their fans to help seal their victory in their favor.
“Man, I’m so excited,” Mooney gushes. “And it’s all up to you guys. It’s all up to you. It would feel pretty great to win our very first season ever. Karen deserves to win this. She’s worked so hard, and we watched her grow through this entire process. She wants this more than anybody else, and she deserves it. And it’s all up to you guys. So, as soon as the show starts, the voting begins, and it’s all up to you guys. Thank you all so much for the support. We love you guys. Thank you for supporting this. Let’s just go win this thing.”
Dan + Shay emerged from their separation stronger than ever, and even more committed to their future in country music, together.
“We’re in such a good place,” Mooney recently told their record label. “I would say that Dan and I now are genuinely in the best place that we have ever been in, which is an incredible thing to be able to say, and mean it with my whole heart. The journey that it took to get to this place, to where we have this new perspective on life and on our career in general, of being able to wake up and know that we get to do this, we don’t have to do this.
“And to feel good about moving forward and to be having just such a blast,” he continued. “Being able to get to do all this stuff, it’s special. Being able to also push a single, like ‘Bigger Houses,’ that is exactly where we’re at right now in our lives is just really special for us.”
The season finale of The Voice airs on Monday and Tuesday night, May 20 and 21, at 8:00 PM ET on NBC. Dan + Shay will spend the summer on the second leg of their Heartbreak On The Map Tour. Find all of Dan + Shay’s music and tour dates at DanandShay.com.
