It’s been a heartbreaking few days for Dan + Shay. The duo, made up of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, announced on social media that they are postponing their The (Arena) Tour until 2021, due to the coronavirus pandemic, joining a long list of artists who have moved tour dates, including Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, and Thomas Rhett.
“We know that this is of minor importance, compared to what is going on in the world right now,” Dan began in a video he shared on social media. “But we care about our fans so much, so we wanted to stay as transparent as possible … The reason that we haven’t yet canceled the dates that are intended to start in July of this summer, is that we have been holding on to the hope that something might shift, something might change, that we might actually be able to make these shows happen.
“But unfortunately as of now, it doesn’t look like it’s going to be possible, out of the respect and safety of our fans, our band, our crew and everyone involved,” he continued. “So what we’ve decided to do is move the entire tour from 2020 to 2021. Now obviously with that comes a lot of logistics, a lot of moving parts, and I would be lying if I said that I had all the answers right at this moment.”

Dan goes on to say that he and Shay, along with their team, are working hard to finalize the new dates, which they will share as soon as they are finalized.
“This tour is so important to us,” Dan maintained. “We’ve worked our entire lives to get to this position. You guys have supported us, you’ve given us a platform, you’ve given us the stage to get up there and do what we love every single night. We got three shows in, and they were so incredibly special. But we promise when we come back in 2021, the shows will be even bigger and even better than they were before.
“I think we speak for every artist out there in music: we are so eager to get back out there for you,’ he added. “There’s nothing that we love more than being on stage, singing for you guys. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your patience. It’s a really tough time for all of us in music; it’s a really tough time for everybody in the world.”
Fans who already have tickets but cannot attend the new dates will have a 30-day refund window to get a refund. Updates will be posted on Dan + Shay’s website as available.
