In the fall of 2019, Blake Shelton made headlines by saying, during a press conference at his own Ole Red bar in downtown Nashville, that Danielle Bradbery was his favorite contestant from The Voice. Danielle, who won Season 4 of The Voice in 2013, when she was just 16 years old, was unaware that her former coach was still singing her praises, until her mother, Gloria Martinez, brought it to her attention.
“When that interview happened, I didn’t see it right away,” Danielle told Everything Nash. “My mom went through the whole Voice experience with me. Everybody calls her Mama Glo. She follows everything. And my family were huge supporters, so they’re always watching everything and post and just try to keep up that way.
“One of my fans posted that video, and my mom was like, ‘Have you seen this?'” she added. “My dad does the same thing. I watched the whole thing. Wow. So honored. It’s insane.”
Danielle still keeps in touch with her former coach, although perhaps not as much as either of them would like.
“I haven’t talked to him about it, to be honest,” Danielle said. “I feel like times are so crazy and weird right now. I haven’t talked to him in a minute, but when I, when I do talk to him, I’m going to bring that up. I want to know more.”
Danielle just released her new single, “Never Have I Ever.” The song, about falling in love with the man she is currently dating, is from an upcoming new album.
“What I love about this song –– a guy or girl relate to it,” Danielle told Everything Nash. “I love that, and it’s a true story. I was in a relationship and learned so much from it. I got out of that, and was single for about a year and wasn’t looking for anybody. My current boyfriend, it just came out of nowhere and I’m like, ‘Whoa, I think I love you.’”
