The Grand Ole Opry will host its 4929th consecutive show this Saturday, June 20, with a performance by Darius Rucker and Clint Black. The two men will continue the Opry’s new format of not having an audience, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Bobby Bones will return as the host.
The Grand Ole Opry halted a live audience in March, due to restrictions because of COVID-19, but they hint they may be soon ready to open up again. After announcing they would start welcoming guests in July, a revised statement says that, while that is still the goal, they are waiting until Nashville moves into Phase 4 of the reopening, which will hopefully be next month.
“While we are unsure when ticketed shows will return, presently tickets are on sale for Saturdays throughout July,” a statement reads on Opry.com. “Shows on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday during the month of July have been canceled and tickets for these events will be automatically refunded to the credit card used to place the order.”
Clint Black was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 1991, while Darius was inducted in 2012, and it remains his favorite place to perform.
“Being backstage at the Opry is different from being backstage anywhere else because it’s the Opry,” Darius stated. “It’s such a great hang with everybody back there. Whether people are playing music or practicing or getting their song together with the band – it’s just a whole bunch of music back there, and it’s pretty awesome.”
Lady A performed at the most recent Grand Ole Opry performance, along with The Scott Family. Jimmy Buffett will make his Grand Ole Opry debut on Saturday, June 27, alongside Brad Paisley and Mac MacAnally. Darius and Clint will take the stage at 7:00 PM CT.
