Dierks Bentley has a new song out, and it’s a duet with Ashley McBryde. The father of three just released “Cowboy Boots” with McBryde, from his forthcoming Gravel & Gold album, out on February 24.
“When I first really fell in love with country music, Jim Beam and cowboy boots came along for the ride,” Bentley says of the song, which he wrote with Casey Brown, Jordan Minton and Hunter Phelps. “I’ve had a few pairs of boots over the years, many requiring duct tape at times. But, they’ve been my consistent and steady companion through this crazy ride.”
Ironically, it was when McBryde joined Bentley on his Beers on Me Tour, that he realized that she would be perfect for “Cowboy Boots.”
“Not only does Ashley have one of the best voices in country music, she also always rocked a pair of boots when we were on tour together last year,” Bentley explains. “I wanted someone that I could authentically sing this song with, and I didn’t have to look any further than stage left. She’s the real deal.”
Bentley and McBryde filmed the performance video at Robert’s Western World, in downtown Nashville. The two also spoke out about their collaboration on social media.

When announcing Gravel & Gold, the Arizona native shared a trailer revealing plans for his new album.
“It’s been a long road. A 20-year journey filled with highs and lows, twists and turns,” Bentley said. “My love for country music, that’s what’s always kept me going. Town to town, show to show, small clubs to packed arenas. I worked hard, I took chances, went for things. The journey isn’t where I’ve been. It’s the thing I carry with me into my tenth album. I wrote, I recorded. It wasn’t good enough.
“I threw it out and started over. Twice,” he continued. “I had to get it right, for the fans, for me. It had to be the best country music I’ve ever made. Everyone showed up. My heroes and my friends. We did it together. It’s the love, the lessons, the gravel and gold.”
Bentley also shared details of Gravel & Gold with his record label, UMG Nashville.
“It is the tenth album. I went into the studio three different times, worked with a lot of different producers, and finally just ended up putting together my own team,” Bentley reveals. “I mean, I’m just thankful. I feel like for me for COVID, it was like a red light. For all of us, we were all just stuck there and I kind of got out of my car, and just left it in park for a little bit. I was able to come back and do it in late ’21 and ’22 and really be focused on finishing the record and getting it done the right way. Hopefully everyone loves it.”
Bentley is currently enjoying a Top 15 hit with “Gold,” from Gravel & Gold. He also just dropped “Same Ol’ Me,” also from Gravel & Gold, which was filmed at Exit/In, after the popular music venue’s closure in November,
