Dolly Parton Announces Launch of Her Own Dolly Beauty Line

Dolly Parton is launching yet another business venture. The singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist reveals on social media the launch of her own Dolly Beauty, a line of cosmetics that will be available beginning on August 22.

“I feel glamorous on the inside, so I want to look like it on the outside… something is coming,” Parton hints, tagging a new Instagram page, Dolly Beauty.

A cosmetics line has for years been a dream of Parton’s, one that she is now grateful to see come to fruition.

“I’ve always said I never leave a rhinestone unturned,” Parton tells WWD. “I’ve wanted to be pretty my whole life like most girls, especially country girls that have a dream of glamour. I started creating my own little makeup things at home when I was just a kid, and I’ve been known for wearing makeup — usually too much — for years.”

Much as Parton’s appearance is in her day-to-day life, the 78-year-old says that her Dolly Beauty line will boast plenty of colors, with options for every consumer.

“It’s important to create things that people that do wear makeup can enjoy,” Parton says. “You have to have a variety of colors.”

Parton, who has notably said she goes to bed with makeup on, hand-picked the items for her Dolly Beauty line based on her own personal preferences that have been developed over the years.

“Every time I put on makeup, I’ll find certain things I want to put in the line. A great, thicker gloss, or a pearly gloss, or something that I’ve used and will find in an old drawer I remember loving,” Parton said. “Lord knows, nobody wears more makeup than me, so I know all the little things I want.”

Parton also reveals she has four lipsticks named after some of her popular songs, such as a lipstick named Jolene Red.

“I like to name my products after songs,” Parton explains, adding that the other lipstick names are Honey Plum, Rosebud and Birthday Suit. The business mogul could certainly afford to have other people be in charge of the decisions, but Parton, who also has her own fragrance line, has been hands-on with Dolly Beauty since the beginning.

“I have to be involved in everything, and I sample and try things and say, ‘Oh, that’s not great, let’s go back and do this or that,’” Parton explains. “Whether it being the packaging, where it says my name, I want them to think of me when they use it.”

In addition to her music and beauty empire, Parton also recently announced her own Dolly Wine and a new Songteller Hotel, in downtown Nashville — but she still has more she wants to do.

“I’ve always wanted my own wig line,” Parton hints. “But I always loved makeup, and when we did the fragrance, makeup seemed like the next step. Through the years, we’ll be doing different products with makeup, and eventually, we may do hair care or this or that. Anything that has to do with beauty — new dreams come every day.”
