Dolly Parton Drops ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ From Upcoming Christmas Album

Dolly Parton has dropped another song from her upcoming album, A Holly Dolly Christmas! The 74-year-old just released “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” ahead of the October 2 release date of her new record.

Dolly, who previously released “Mary, Did You Know,” officially announced the album in August, revealing the new set of tunes would include both classic Christmas songs and originals, along with a slew of guest artists, such as Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Fallon and more.

“I thought, ‘I think I’ll call it A Holly Dolly Christmas because I love the song ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’ with Burl Ives,” Dolly told Billboard. “He used to be on all of my Christmas specials all through the years. I think of him as Mr. Christmas. I thought, ‘Why don’t I call it something cute and clever, like that or Deck the Halls with Boughs of Dolly, something corny like that.’”

The East Tennessee native just celebrated a new career milestone, with her collaboration with Zach Williams on “There Was Jesus” marking her first time at No. 1 on the  Billboard Christian Airplay chart.

“Having a No. 1 record at any time is a great thing, but having a No. 1 faith-based record during these crazy times is even greater,” Dolly told Billboard. “I feel humbled and blessed to be part of this wonderful song with Zach Williams. It does my heart good to know that we have touched the lives of so many people.”

The new achievement makes Dolly the first artist to have had a No. 1 song on the Adult Contemporary, Christian AC Songs, Christian Airplay, Country Airplay and Dance/Mix Show Airplay.

In addition to a Holly Dolly Christmas, the country music superstar will also release a new book, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics, sharing the stories behind some of her biggest hits. Songteller will be released on November 17. Both A Holly Dolly Christmas and Songteller are available for pre-order via Dolly’s website.
