Only a few days after releasing his debut Dallas/Fort Worth album, Drake Milligan has a new single out. The America’s Got Talent finalist just released “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” from the record. Milligan performed the original song for his first AGT audition. The song quickly rose to the top of the iTunes chart as soon as it was released.
Milligan announced the release of “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” on social media.

The America’s Got Talent judges rightly predicted the song would change the trajectory of Milligan’s career.
“I think you’re going to break out from this particular song, this particular moment, on this particular night,” Howie Mandel said after Milligan’s performance of the uptempo tune.
“I think this performance should make a difference with what you’re doing,” added Simon Cowell. “Because people are going to like you. The song was really, really good as well. It was real authentic. That’s what I liked about it.”
Milligan returned for the America’s Got Talent finale to also perform “Sounds Like Something I’d Do,” earning him a spot in the Top 5.
Milligan’s freshman record celebrates his five years in Nashville, honing his craft as a singer and songwriter.
“I’ve been in Nashville about five years, and really this record is kind of a culmination of a ton of songs that I’ve written in those five years,” Milligan told Everything Nash.
Milligan knew his time on America’s Got Talent could change his life, but he had no idea the impact it would have on him, and his future in country music.
“I’m totally surprised,” Milligan admitted. “I didn’t think it was gonna happen on the scale it’s happened. The shows being planned are crazy. People are showing up. They’re singing along to all the songs. It’s changed my career completely.”
Although Milligan didn’t win America’s Got Talent, with that honor going to the Mayyas instead, Milligan said he already felt like a winner, even without the Las Vegas show and one million dollar prize.
“I feel like I gained a lot of confidence with the last live show, on AGT,” Milligan said. “To be able to sing an original song on live television for millions of people, and to get a great response like that, just fills you with confidence. I feel like hopefully, I’ll walk away with even more of that confidence, since that’s the final round, and be able to take that into my career, and try to go a long ways.”
Dallas/Fort Worth landed at No. 1 on the iTunes All-Genre Top Albums and iTunes Top Country Albums charts when it was released. Find music and concert dates at DrakeMilligan.com.
