Easton Corbin is back with new music! The singer-songwriter just dropped “Marry That Girl,” his first release after signing with Stone Country Records. Corbin wrote his new track with Shane Minor, Wade Kirby and Adam Craig.
“We just kind of talked about batting around stories, as a writer,” Corbin tells Everything Nash. “Adam started talking about his wife he has now. He said, ‘As soon as I saw her, I knew I was gonna marry that girl.’ I was like, ‘Hmm, that might be a pretty good title there.’ So we took off on that.”
Corbin’s last full-length album, About to Get Real, was released in 2015. He also released his Didn’t Miss a Beat EP in 2020, but says he has a new set of tunes coming for his fans.
“We have a brand new record we’re working on,” Corbin teases. “I think it’s getting back to my roots and things like that. Just having all this time — they always say you have your whole life to write your first track, and then after it takes off … You’re lucky enough to have it happen. But having this whole reset, if you can take away anything positive from the COVID experience, I’ve been able to really go back and hone in and write stuff that I just love, and not have to rush.”
Corbin released three albums and one EP on Mercury Nashville, but now feels most at home at his new label, Stone Country Records. Corbin is the first artist signed to the new label, helmed by Benny Brown, Paul Brown and Jason Sellers.
“It’s really awesome,” Corbin boasts. “It’s a great bunch of people. They love country music, and they just really want me to do what I do. That’s country music. That’s my roots.”
It’s been 13 years since Corbin’s debut single, “A Little More Country Than That” was released. The song, which also became his first No. 1 song, kicked off a career of hits headlining tours and opening for artists like Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton and more. As Corbin readies more music, he has learned plenty in his journey so far, lessons he is using to help guide him as he prepares new music for his fans.
“You gotta be who you are, but you still have to go with the flow and with the time, if that makes sense, and kind of take what’s working and use it on your behalf,” shares the singer. “Now, you still gotta stay true to who you are ’cause you’re the best you are. I think it’s always taking the positive and negative, but it’s what you do that makes sense. Music’s like anything, it all ebbs and flows.”
Corbin will perform “Marry That Girl” on Thursday night, March 3, on the FOX hit show, Joe Millionaire. The show airs at 8:00 PM ET. Find all of Corbin’s music at EastonCorbin.com.
