Garth Brooks is giving fans an update on his next album, Fun. Although he planned on releasing it by now, the singer says he is waiting for the right time, due to COVID-19, and hints he might have something else in the works as well.
“Fun is coming. Fun is done,” Garth revealed as part of his Inside Studio G weekly Facebook series. “We’re waiting for the right time for us to kind of get to enjoy it and have fun with it. But also — something else might be coming with Fun that’s pretty cool that will wrap up several years of Inside Studio G. Fun is coming, but might also be sitting side-by-side with something that’s pretty cool.”
Garth previously released two songs from Fun, “Party Gras” and “That’s What Cowboys Do,” while admitting that he was holding off the release of his next record for a while.
“I don’t want to be the guy that tries to do something in the midst where everybody is hurting,” Garth previously shared. “The album’s ready to go. It’s just how do you get out and promote and be happy and jolly while everybody’s out there fighting for their lives not only physically, but fighting for their lives financially.”
The Country Music Hall of Fame member also released “We Belong Together,” inspired by the recent events in life, including the coronavirus pandemic and the tragic death of George Floyd.
“Music is the greatest healer and also the greatest equalizer,” Garth said of the song, which says in part, “Ain’t no wall can divide us / No matter how high / Ain’t no storm can untie us / For all it may try / We’re all leaves on the same tree / Under one sky / Don’t let nobody tell you otherwise / We belong to each other / We are sister and brother / Born to love one another.
“A lot of people have asked how I feel about what is going on in the world right now… and music is where I turn to answer that question — We Belong to Each Other, We are Sister and Brother… ALL OF US,” he continued. “We must not divide, but unite … I hope it’s words ring true and that we all love one another more tomorrow than we did yesterday.”
