George Strait Adds Second Nashville Show With Chris Stapleton

George Strait fans in Nashville are in luck. The King of Country Music, who announced several stadium shows with Chris Stapleton in 2023, has added a second show to his Nissan Stadium concert next year, due to overwhelming fan demand. The two superstars will now also perform on Friday, July 28, after fans’ overwhelming response to his Music City concert.

Srait and Stapleton will perform in a total of six cities, with  Little Big Town serving as the opening act on all dates.

“It just felt right,” Strait told Billboard of touring with Stapleton and Little Big Town. “I had the opportunity to work with Chris and Little Big Town and everything just kind of fell in place for next year. I don’t do that many shows anymore, so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.”

Stapleton is also eager to join the Country Music Hall of Fame member on the road.

“I love doing these shows with George about as much as I like doing anything,” Stapleton said. “There’s nothing to compare it to. So many of his songs are in the ethos of what country music is. Playing these shows together is a great experience all the way around.”

In 2012, Strait announced he was largely retiring from life on the road. But while he may not do multi-city, cross-country tours like he did in the past, the 70-year-old still loves every time he gets to perform

“By the time showtime arrives every night, I’m usually tired of waiting and chomping at the bit to go,” Strait, who has performed regularly at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in recent years, says. “’When I walk through those curtains and see those smiling faces, my feet don’t touch the ground again till I walk back out and get on that bus that got me here’ — that’s from a song I wrote called ‘I’ll Always Remember You.’ It’s a true statement.”

Pre-sale tickets for the second Nashville show, for American Express Card Members only, will be available beginning Oct. 27 at 10:00 AM local time through Thursday, Nov. 3 at 10:00 PM local time. Tickets for the general public will be available on Friday, November 4, at 10:00 AM local time, at GeorgeStrait.com.
