Gretchen Wilson Joins Keith Urban, Blake Shelton on ‘The Road’

Gretchen Wilson is joining the upcoming CBS reality TV talent show, The Road! Wilson has been tapped as the Tour Manager, joining an all-star cast that includes Keith Urban and  Blake Shelton. The new show sees aspiring singers open for Urban, in venues all over the country, trying to win over local fanbases to remain in the competition.

Shelton and Taylor Sheridan are serving as executive producers on The Road.

“Stepping into the role of ‘tour manager’ for The Road has allowed me to take everything I’ve learned over all of my years of touring and pour it right back into these emerging musicians,” Wilson says. “Helping them sharpen their talents to capture the attention of these crowds across America, and guiding them through the real and raw grind of life on the road, has been a highlight of my career.”

“Working with Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan and the rest of the team and our incredible crew was absolutely amazing,” she adds. “It was an honor to be a part of this team and I can’t wait for the world to watch!”

Shelton first announced The Road, with Urban later revealing he was joining the show as well.

“I’m so excited to be joining Taylor Sheridan’s brand-new competition series, The Road, as the headliner, helping Blake Shelton find America’s next big star,” Urban says. “I’m going to be playing a string of shows over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for more info on how you can attend, and we will see you on The Road.”

Shelton is a veteran of TV talent shows, thanks to his years on The Voice. He was excited to join Sheridan for a new type of show, and to be able to help rising stars on their way to success.

“I’m a big fan of Taylor’s incredible work, and I’m excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road,” Shelton says. “I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.”

“There is a revolution taking place in country music. Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture,” adds Sheridan. “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”

The Road will premiere on CBS this fall, and stream on Paramount+.
