After writing songs for Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton and more, HARDY (real name: Michael Hardy) is releasing his own record. The 29-year-old will release A Rock on September 4, which includes his new single, “One Beer,” featuring Lauren Alaina and Devin Dawson.

With songs like “God’s Country,” “Up Down,” “I Don’t Know About You” and others, HARDY wanted to show his diversity in all 12 songs on the project, which includes the very country song, “Unapologetically Country as Hell.”

“I didn’t want to fill my record up with overly obnoxious country songs,” HARDY explained to Rolling Stone. “I love those kind of songs, but I wanted for people to know that I have a little bit more to say than just that. But that one is definitely for the people.”

Whether light-hearted or serious, HARDY likes to tell a story in each of the songs he writes.

“I know I don’t do it with every song,” HARDY conceded. “But it’s always fun when I do. Some of the first songs that I started liking, especially country songs like ‘Ole Red,’ I gravitated towards that. I guess subconsciously I wanted to do that with my writing too.”
