HARDY Calls ‘SIX FEET UNDER’ His ‘First Real Love Song’ for His Wife

HARDY has a brand-new song, out now. The Mississippi native released “SIX FEET UNDER (Caleigh’s Song),” a tune he wrote for his wife after his harrowing bus accident.

“It’s my first real love song I wrote for my wife,” HARDY says on Apple Music Country’s Today’s Country Radio. “It’s really heavy… Going from basically the worst moment of my life to the greatest moment of my life and the emotional roller coaster behind that. That’s kind of everything that ‘SIX FEET UNDER’ is about.”

One specific line in the song, “If Heaven’s a moment that you wish never ended / Then I’m six feet under somewhere,” HARDY says refers specifically to when they exchanged wedding vows on October 29, 2022.

“We don’t have kids yet, but there’s nothing to me that will ever, ever, ever beat that moment,” HARDY explains.

The singer-songwriter was badly injured in the bus accident on October 2, 2022, along with the bus driver, who was hospitalized for a while after the accident, and two other people on the bus.

“The wreck happened I think three weeks before our wedding,” HARDY recalls. “And my wife was on her bachelorette party and I picked up the phone. I called her and I’m bleeding all over my face. And I didn’t know if I was hurt, but I just remember calling her and just being like, ‘I love you,’ and all this crazy stuff. And then going from that moment to the moment where we gave each other our vows and how far apart they were, it really put in perspective how fragile everything is and how special life is in general.”

HARDY canceled some dates on his tour last year to deal with crippling anxiety, which stemmed from his bus accident.

“When you go through a really hard time, I think it’s good for you, because it’s all part of the processing. But sometimes it’s tough to go back to those places,” HARDY shared on Audacy’s Katie & Company. “And a lot of mine came from trauma from the bus accident that I hadn’t really worked through yet. So kind of having to go back to that can be tough.

“But I was in a really, really dark place, and was just dealing with a lot of, honestly, just anxiety, like this uncontrollable wave of horrible anxiety,” he continued. “And I had a week that was like hell week for me, and I just, I couldn’t. I don’t know what happened. And not conveniently or coincidentally — it was very not coincidental — but it was a year to the day of the bus wreck, was when everything just started happening.”
