HARDY is tackling a heavy subject, domestic violence, in his new single, “wait in the truck,” featuring Lainey Wilson. HARDY wrote the song with Hunter Phelps, Jordan Schmidt and Renee Blair.
“It’s the best song I have ever written in my entire life, and it’s called ‘Wait In The Truck,'” HARDY shared on social media, ahead of the song’s release. “I’m doing it with Lainey Wilson. Very heavy subject matter. Awesome story song. Very excited.”
HARDY knew as soon as they wrote “wait in the truck” that it was special, but he had no idea how special until he heard the demo for the first time.
“’wait in the truck,’ my next single, is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written – probably the best song I’ve ever written to be honest,” HARDY admits. “It hit me so hard the first time I heard the demo back, and no other song had done that before. Very excited for the world to hear the song, excited for the song to give people a platform to maybe speak out about stuff that might be going on in their own homes. Thank you to Lainey Wilson for doing this song with me – she crushed it, she crushed the music video, I just can’t wait for the world to see this and I can’t wait to play it live.”
“I always love working with HARDY, but this track is extra special,” Wilson adds. “I am so proud to be part of ‘wait in the truck’ because it’s such a powerful song and story, and I really do think it will change lives.”
The song comes as HARDY just announced plans for a headlining Wall to Wall Tour in December. The tour will kick off on December 1 in Athens, Georgia, and wrap up on December 16 in Greenville, South Carolina. Jackson Dean will join HARDY for most of the tour, with Puddle of Mudd opening for HARDY for one show.
“I’m stoked to take this Wall to Wall Tour on the road,” HARDY says. “We’re hitting some cities and venues that I absolutely love; I’m happy to have Jackson out with me and honored that the guys from Puddle of Mudd are joining us in Columbia. It’s going to be a great time – a loud time – every night, and it’s just the beginning of what we have in store. See you out there.”
