Everything changed for Home Free after they won Season 4 of The Sing-Off in 2013. The TV show catapulted the all-vocal group into a new realm of success, which has grown exponentially in the decade since then.
Following their monumental win, Home Free dropped Crazy Life, their first record released on a major label. In honor of the ten-year anniversary of the album, Home Free released Crazy(er) Life, out now. The 11-track record is a reimagined version of all of the original songs on Crazy Life, as a way to celebrate how far they have come in the years since the record was released.
“This is the first time we’ve ever gone in the studio with songs in our bones,” Tim Foust told Everything Nash of the record. “Usually, we’re working on new material, and we’re still learning how to perform it the best we can. Whereas, some of these songs, we’ve literally been singing for ten years straight. So it’s nice to go into the studio confident on how to perform them.”
Crazy(er) Life might be a celebration of how far Home Free has come, but it’s also the end of an era for the five-man group as well. The project is the last one that will feature Austin Brown, who announced earlier this year that made the difficult decision to leave Home Free to pursue other interests.
“Life is beautiful, life is long,” Brown explained toEverything Nash. “We all go through seasons. And for me, it’s a new chapter. It’s a turning of a page. I’m always going to be in Home Free in my heart. And I’m just excited. I’ve got an incredible wife. I want to be home. I want to figure out a way to not be on the road as much these days. I’ve loved it for a decade, and then one day I just realized that I think it’s time for me to slow down.”
Brown might be leaving, but that isn’t his focus now. Instead, all five men are eager to pour all they have into their Crazy(er) Life Tour, which wraps up this fall.
“We still got a lot more to do here,” Brown said. “We still have so much music to make. We’ve got at least six more months of me being around at least. And it feels like we still have the Super Bowl in front of us. I’m so focused on just being here and present with my boys. I love these guys so much, and I’m just grateful for the time we had together. And, I’m looking forward to seeing where life takes me, and where life takes these guys. We’re friends at the end of the day, always will be. I’m just excited for the next chapter for all of us.”
Home Free also hints there will be another new album later this year. Find all of their music and tour dates at HomeFreeMusic.com.
