Home Free was joined by Texas Hill for “Givin’ Up On You,” from their So Long Dixie album, also combining their talents for the video, out now. Both Adam Wakefield and Casey James join the five-man group in the video, which appears to be shot deep in the country.
Texas Hill has been a frequent collaborator with Home Free. The group previously joined Home Free for both “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and “Dreamer.” Texas Hill also joined Home Free on their Family Christmas Tour, which will include a show at the Ryman Auditorium on Sunday, March 5, after the original date on December 23 was postponed due to inclement weather.
Noticeably absent from Texas Hill is co-founding member Craig Wayne Boyd, who reveals he was voted out of the group, as Wakefield and James added three additional members instead,
“I was voted out of the band I started – but I am excited to get back to getting out and entertaining folks with good country music!” Boyd shared on Facebook when the news was announced.
Boyd may not be part of Texas Hill anymore, but Wakefield and James are still moving full-speed ahead with new music, and a lot of it. The two revealed in a joint statement that they were working on.
“2023 marks a new chapter for Texas Hill … We’re going into the studio next month to start recording the new record, and are gonna be on the road all year long,” Wakefield and James said. “We can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve been cooking up, and hope you come see us when we’re in your neck of the woods. Craig Wayne Boyd is no longer going to be a part of this project, but we’re incredibly grateful for his contribution to the band over the past few years. We’ve made some great music together, and wish him all the best in his new endeavors.”
Home Free is continuing on their Road Sweet Road Tour in 2023, but they already have big plans for 2024, which include their first-ever performance on the Country Music Cruise. The group is part of an all-star lineup, which includes Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black, Neal McCoy, Joe Nichols, Shenandoah, Darryl Worley, Billy Dean and more.
“It is going to be a very unique experience that is unlike any other thing that you would ever experience, if you came to see us at a show on land or at a concert,” Adam Rupp tells Everything Nash. “Because it’s gonna be multiple events that are going to be occurring while on the ship, where you get to experience stuff with us in different ways instead of just the show. The show’s gonna be great, of course, but there’s an intimacy that is unlike anything else that you would experience on land or at a concert venue, because obviously, we’re all together on the ship.
“Now, we still want our privacy. Don’t get me wrong on that,” he adds with a laugh. “But you’ll see us just walking around. We’ll be passing by each other from time to time, and we’ll be out and about. So you’ll be able to interact in a different way.”
The Country Music Cruise sets sail on January 20 from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It will travel to Grand Turk, Key West and Half Moon Cay, before returning on January 27. Cabins are on sale now.
