The collaboration with Home Free and Brooke Eden is out! The all-vocal group and the rising female star combined their talents for a dreamy new version of “Delta Dawn,” a song made popular by Tanya Tucker more than 50 years ago.
“We love diving back into our roots, hitting on old country classics like this,” Home Free said of the song. “‘Delta Dawn’ was originally sung by Bette Midler in 1971 and popularized by Tanya Tucker in ‘72 . The song has always tugged at our hearts, and we felt there was nobody better to help us do it justice than [Brooke Eden].”
Home Free had already been performing the song with Eden while she joined them on their Home Free Family Christmas Tour, The group has been selling out venues all over the world, a success they attribute not only to their talent, but their loyal fans as well.
“It’s something special,” Austin Brown boasts to Everything Nash, speaking of their fans’ devotion. “I think it’s a major, if not the most important factor, to what we do. It allows us to do this for a living, and to feel like we can keep moving forward, because we know that as long as we keep making music that we enjoy, that they will enjoy it too. And that’s a luxury these days. We’re not always afraid that we have to constantly reinvent ourselves to keep our fans around, because they’re so ADD.
“It’s actually quite the opposite,” he continues. “We could never do anything new again, and if we just kept singing the songs we’ve done, they’d be happy. So it really is a joy having that kind of a support structure, in a day and age when that’s harder and harder to find for a lot of artists.”
Home Free has a busy touring schedule over the next few months. In addition to headlining their own shows, Home Free will also perform at Alabama’s June Jam on June 3, followed by a performance at CMA Fest on June 10.
