Home Free just released the video for their original patriotic song, “Land of the Free,” and it might be the feel-good song of the summer. Written by Home Free member Tim Foust and Chris Chatham, the song is the title track of Home Free’s upcoming album, which will be out on June 25.
“Land of the Free,” which says in part, “So I will sing, and let it ring / Let the whole world know, I’m not giving up this dream for anything / ‘Cause I love my country / That’s one thing that’ll never change for me / In the land of the free,” is one of ten tracks on the upcoming record, which they created to spread positivity, especially after the challenges of the previous year.
“Based merely on the human condition, our differences are far outweighed by our common ground,” Foust says. “We hope this album serves as a reminder of the unity to be found in our shared humanity.”
Land of the Free also includes a cover of the Tim McGraw and Tyler Hubbard, song, “Undivided,” Brooks & Dunn‘s “Only in America,” Dire Straits’ “Brothers in Arms,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.,” and The Chicks‘ “Travelin’ Soldier,”
“When Austin first suggested we cover this song, it had been years since I heard it – and to be perfectly honest, I had forgotten just how beautiful and tragic it truly is. After listening to it again, I was totally on board,” Rob Lundquist said of “Travelin’ Soldier, which was originally written and released by Bruce Robison. “I know this one hits home for a lot of people – myself included. My dad was in the Army when I was born, and when my parents heard our version of this song for the first time, they both had tears in their eyes. Needless to say, there’s something really special about this song, and I’m so glad we decided to sing it.”
Home Free will resume their Dive Bar Saints Tour later this year, although they just announced they made the difficult decision to postpone the Canadian dates to 2022, due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Canada, we love and miss y’all so much and can’t wait to get back out to you, but out of an abundance of caution, we have to reschedule the Canadian branch of our Dive Bar Saints tour,” Home Free announced on social media. “Thank y’all so much for your patience, and we are so ready to see you when the time comes.”
