Home Free has released another single and video. The song is the second single released from the group’s forthcoming So Long Dixie album, out on November 4. Austin Brown takes the lead on the song, a powerful reminder of the important need of human connection.
Home Free’s last album, The Sounds of Lockdown, was released in April. The record includes 20 songs recorded during the pandemic, including “On The Road Again,” “Crazy,” “The Gambler,” “Bless The Broken Road,” their “One Voice” collaboration with Billy Gilman, as well as their “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” duet with Peter Hollens. The five-man group has made quite the name for themselves by covering other people’s songs, but their next set of tunes will be all originals.
“Downtime these past couple years combined with inspiration from touring again, got Tim [Foust] an Austin writing,” Home Free announces. “We all listened and had an idea. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do something different and uniquely ours. This collection of songs we feel not only tells great stories, but still holds true to our style you all know and love.”
Home Free also hinted they used some instruments for So Long Dixie, a rarity for the usual all-vocal group.
“We broke the rules on this new album,” Foust revealed. “We did a couple of the songs with instruments, including the title track.”
Home Free recently released “Don’t Laugh At Me” a collaboration with Mark Wills, who originally released the song in 1998.
“October is Anti-Bullying Month and it’s a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts,” Tim Foust says after the song ends. “That’s why we have partnered with Mark Wills and 21 Pineapples to help raise money and awareness to fight bullying.”
Home Free is currently on their Road Sweet Road Tour, which will be followed by their ambitious Home Free Family Christmas Tour. The holiday tour plays 23 dates across the country, joined by an impressive list of opening acts, including Texas Hill, Caroline Jones, Brooke Eden, Abby Anderson and Ernie Halter.
