Home Free has a new album out, and a new song and video! The group just dropped So Long Dixie, the follow-up to their The Sounds of Lockdown album, which was released in June. But unlike their previous set of tunes, So Long Dixie has 14 original songs, including “What’s Left Of My Heart,” “Save the World” and “Understand,” which was released the same day as the record.
“Downtime these past couple years combined with inspiration from touring again, got Tim [Foust] and Austin [Brown] writing,” Home Free said of their new project. “We all listened and had an idea. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do something different and uniquely ours. This collection of songs we feel not only tells great stories, but still holds true to our style you all know and love.”
Known for their all-vocal sound, Foust hinted ahead of the release of So Long Dixie that Home Free had included instruments on some of the songs.
“We broke the rules on this new album,” Foust revealed. “We did a couple of the songs with instruments, including the title track.”
While Home Free is always grateful when fans support their music, they said ahead of its release that they would be especially grateful if So Long Dixie was purchased the same week it came out.
“Our last few albums have made the Billboard Country Album Sales Charts on their debut week, and this week we have some serious competition,” Home Free said in an email shared with their fans. “We’re an independent band, no label. Just our music, you — our fans — and us fighting to make it together. If our music has ever helped you get through a tough time, helped you enjoy your day a little bit more, or even just put a smile on your face, we are asking for some help.”
Home Free is currently on their Road Sweet Road Tour, which will be followed by their ambitious Home Free Family Christmas Tour. The holiday tour, playing 23 dates across the country, features an impressive list of opening acts, including Texas Hill, Caroline Jones, Brooke Eden, Abby Anderson and Ernie Halter.
