Home Free might be known for their twist on country music songs, but the members are all trained vocalists who can sing pretty much anything. Case in point: Home Free members Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown recently proved their versatility, by performing “Nessun Dorma.” The aria, from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot, has been performed by some of the greatest opera singers of all time, including Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti.
The video, which quickly garnered more than 60,000 views, was posted to Brown’s YouTube channel.
The video comes as Home Free is in the midst of a busy final quarter to 2022. The all-vocal group is currently on their Road Sweet Road Tour, and will then embark on their Home Free Family Christmas Tour. The holiday trek begins on December 1, and will play 23 shows before wrapping up on December 30 and 31, with two back-to-back shows in Dallas, Texas. An impressive — and diverse — array of opening acts will join Home Free for their holiday tour, including Texas Hill,Caroline Jones, Brooke Eden, Abby Anderson and Ernie Halter.
Home Free also plans on releasing a new album soon. Although those details have yet to be revealed, Home Free has said they are performing several songs from their next record on their Road Sweet Road Tour.
“For the past four months we’ve been hard at work in the studio preparing some new original music,” Home Free said when announcing their Road Sweet Road Tour. “This fall, we can’t wait to share it with you on the road.”
The Sounds of Lockdown, released in April, includes some of the group’s best covers, including “On The Road Again,” “Crazy,” “The Gambler,” “Bless The Broken Road” and more. The record also includes their “One Voice” collaboration with Billy Gilman, as well as their” I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” duet with Peter Hollens, plus many more.
“We’re real country music fans,” Austin Brown previously told Everything Nash, speaking of the diversity of songs Home Free has recorded over the years. “So we look up to everybody in this industry … We know that Dolly Parton has at least heard a pitch from us. She was interested last year, and she was like, ‘Maybe next year,’ ’cause she had a thing last year. So who knows. There’s no validity to that. That’s just a hope. Ideally, we’d love to work with Dolly. And one of my favorite artists in country music of all time is Travis Tritt. I’d really love a chance to get to work with him.”
