Home Free has once again teamed up with Don McLean, this time for a new take on McLean’s “Vincent.” The song, a tribute to renowned artist Vincent van Gogh, was first released by McLean as part of his iconic 1971 American Pie record.
“There is a case to be made for Vincent being the best-written song of all time,” Home Free’s Tim Foust says. “Musically AND lyrically, it just doesn’t get any better. What an unbelievable honor to share the microphone with Don McLean on his masterpiece. And the fact that this is our second collaboration with him is surreal beyond words.”
Rob Lundquist also spoke out about the opportunity to once again record a song with the recent Music City Walk of Fame inductee.
“One of my favorite songs of all time is Vincent by Don McLean,” Lundquist said on social media. “Honored to be able to sing this with him and excited to share this video.”

Home Free previously teamed up with McLean for a new version of “American Pie” in 2021. They also sing with McLean on the title track of his new American Boys album, out on May 17.
“We are both honored and excited to be featured on our friend Don McLean’s forthcoming album, ‘American Boys,’” Home Free said when the record was announced. “We will be featured on the title track for the album, and we CAN’T WAIT for you to hear it. Get ready to have your minds blown.”
The all-vocal group just released their new record, Crazy(er) Life, out now. The record is a reimagined version of the 11 songs on Crazy Life, their first record after winning The Sing-Off in 2013.
“This is the first time we’ve ever gone in the studio with songs in our bones,” Foust told Everything Nash of the record. “Usually, we’re working on new material, and we’re still learning how to perform it the best we can. Whereas, some of these songs, we’ve literally been singing for ten years straight. So it’s nice to go into the studio confident on how to perform them.”
Crazy(er) Life is the final album that will include Austin Brown, who announced earlier this year he was leaving Home Free to pursue other interests.
“Life is beautiful, life is long,” Brown said of his decision. “We all go through seasons. And for me, it’s a new chapter. It’s a turning of a page. I’m always going to be in Home Free in my heart. And I’m just excited. I’ve got an incredible wife. I want to be home. I want to figure out a way to not be on the road as much these days. I’ve loved it for a decade, and then one day I just realized that I think it’s time for me to slow down.”
Home Free is currently on their Crazy(er) Life Tour, which runs through the fall. Find Crazy(er) Life, and all of their music and tour dates at HomeFreeMusic.com.
