A new track was just released from Home Free‘s Adam Chance, and it is gorgeous. The versatile singer just released an acoustic version of “Pancho & Lefty.” The song was written by Townes Van Zandt and originally released in 1972, on The Late Great Townes Van Zandt. The song has been recorded by several other artists over the years, including most notably by Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard.
Chance announced the new track on social media, revealing that he was unable to make a video since he is currently moving.
“Surprise release!” he wrote. “I want to get a video out, but I’ve been too busy with this move to make it happen. Which is also why there have been no Laid Back Cafe & Twitch streams (but they’ll be back!) In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy streaming my tune wherever you listen to music!”

This isn’t Chance’s first cover he has released. He previously dropped a cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License,” as well as a cover of Blaze Foley’s “If I Could Only Fly.” He also released his original “Song From Home” last year.
Chance’s release of music might sound eclectic, but that’s because his tastes are so diverse.
“Nothing is off-limits for me when it comes to my listening habits, and I don’t believe in ‘guilty pleasures,'” Chance previously told Everything Nash. “My wheelhouse is outlaw country, folk and Americana, but I can name a few that might be surprises outside of that – Run the Jewels, Tool, Carly Rae Jepson, Sigur Rós. To be honest, I could probably name an artist in every genre that I enjoy. I listen to a lot of chill-hop and retrowave… Rob, Home Free’s tenor, has always gotten a kick out of my love for sea shanties, even before they were a trend on TikTok.”
Chance isn’t the only Home Free member who has been busy making music. Tim Foust has also recently dropped some solo tracks, including “Come Go With Me” as well as a medley of “Will You Still Love Me” and “Stay.”
Home Free will resume their Dive Bar Saints Tour on February 17 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Find all of the group’s upcoming shows here.
