Jake Hoot is a much slimmer version of himself. The Season 17 winner of The Voice shares on social media that he has lost 60 pounds, as part of an ongoing health and wellness journey he began at the end of last year.
Hoot reveals his weight loss on social media, along with a photo of his new, slimmer self.
“I’ve been a little nervous to share this, but I wanted to let y’all in on what I’ve been working on. I just hit the 60 lbs. down mark!” Hoot boasts. “Last year, I hit a rough spot when it came to my health. I didn’t like the way I felt or looked. I’d tried so many different diets and trends—some worked for a while, but the weight would always creep back once I slipped off track. I felt constantly drained, and even sleep didn’t seem to help.
“Toward the end of 2024, I decided enough was enough. I didn’t just want to diet—I wanted to change my lifestyle. I started working out, eating cleaner, and cutting out the stuff I knew made me feel awful,” he continues, adding that he started working out with a personal trainer at Planet Fitness .
It wasn’t long until Hoot realized that he was feeling better, giving him the motivation to continue.

“More energy. More mental clarity. More capacity to do daily things,” the father of three explains..”It wasn’t easy. But just committing to show up and do something each day made all the difference. I even started running. At first, I could barely get through half a mile. But after a couple of months, I worked my way up to running a full 5K—something I’ve only done once before in my life. Just a few weeks ago, I realized I’m lighter now than I’ve been since my oldest daughter was born. That hit me hard—in the best way.”
Hoot posts his weight loss not to brag, but rather to encourage others that they can be motivated to become the best version of themselves as well.
“All it takes is one step,” Hoot maintains. “One healthy choice. One ‘no’ to something that doesn’t serve you. And then another step. And another. Eventually, you start to realize how strong your mind really is—and how the things you thought you couldn’t live without? They start to fade into the background.”
Hoot admits he was hesitant to share his weight loss journey, but chose to in hopes of inspiring someone else.
“I still mess up—a lot,” Hoot concedes. “But progress isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up every day and making those small, consistent choices … I’m not trying to be a fitness influencer—I just wanted to share the journey I’m on, and maybe encourage someone else to take that first step.”
