Jason Aldean is a different — and healthier — man than he was just a few years ago. The father of four recently opened up about his weight loss, while on the Big D & Bubba Show, crediting his wife, Brittany, for his healthy lifestyle.
“Just marry somebody where every time you’re in [the refrigerator] about 10:00 PM at night getting ready to eat something, they’re telling you not to,” Aldean says with a laugh, when asked if there was a secret to his slimmer physique.
When asked if Brittany would slap his hand if he was in the fridge late at night, Aldean said that wasn’t the case at all. Instead, it’s Brittany’s own healthy diet that inspired him to shed some pounds, to both look and feel better.
“My wife, she eats pretty healthy,” Aldean admits. “And I think, for me, I just kind of fall into that. I’m like, ‘Okay, well we’re eating fish tonight. Okay, cool.’ … So honestly, it’s just that, and just trying to be more active. Just getting out, trying to play golf or do whatever. I saw a couple of pictures a couple of years ago, and I was just like, ‘What is going on right now? I’ve got to get it together.’ And so, I just really started to focus on it a little bit and just try to get myself back into a little bit better shape. It’s still not great, but it’s better.”
Aldean just released his latest song, “Tough Crowd,” which is Aldean’s thank-you letter to his fans for their support over the years. Aldean debuted the song live at the recent ACM Awards.
“This is just a song to me that talks about our fans…about us onstage getting a bird’s-eye view of our fans that come in all shapes and sizes and colors,” Aldean said when the song was released. “It’s just really cool to look out and just see those people from all different walks of life come together for a show and have fun.”
“Tough Crowd’ is from a forthcoming new album, and while he hasn’t revealed many details about the project, he does hint he isn’t opposed to singing a duet with his wife.
“Brit’s a great singer,” Aldean boasted on Audacy’s Stars and Strings. “It’s one of those things where, to me, it all comes down to the song. If you find the right song, I think that’s really the key. It’s definitely something I’m not opposed to at all if the right thing came along and made sense. I would actually love to get her in the studio and cut some vocals. I don’t think she’s ever done that before. That would be cool. She’d be a little reluctant until she got in there. I think she’d be great.”
Aldean will embark on his Highway Desperado Tour on July 14, with Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent and Dee Jay Silver joining him on the road. Find music and tour dates at JasonAldean.com.
