Jason Aldean has high praise for his former duet partner, Carrie Underwood. The American Idol alum sang “America the Beautiful” a cappella, after there was a problem with the track that was supposed to accompany her. Underwood’s flawless delivery, without any music, has been lauded by many, including Aldean.
“First of all, it’s a hard song to do anyway,” Aldean tells Fox & Friends. “When you’re supposed to be singing to a track, and that’s what gives you pitch reference for the song, and to not have that and for her to just kind of say, ‘All right, listen, we’ll go.’ That’s a big move and that’s a pro move on her part, so I thought it was great.”
Aldean has been much more vocal about his political leanings than Underwood. The father of four, who performed at the Liberty Ball after President Trump’s inauguration, says he feels “vindicated” that Trump became the 47th President of the United States.
“My wife and I talk about this all the time,” Aldean says. “For the last four years especially, you’re taking a lot of heat for stepping out and telling people how we feel about the state of the country and that regime that had been in office. It’s been a little odd at times. But, it’s cool to look here this week and see all the celebrities and people that are showing up, that didn’t really speak out. But it’s a good thing. It just means that it’s getting everything back on track, and people are on the same page.”
Aldean might have been more vocal than most, but he says there are a lot of his famous friends who feel the same way he does, even if they aren’t willing to be open about their political beliefs.
“I think for the last few years, as much as a lot of the media has tried to make it seem like everything’s been so great, it hasn’t,” Aldean maintains. “I think a lot of us knew that for a long time, and I think a lot of other people are starting to see it now. So, to have President Trump back in office, I think it gives everyone a sense of relief for a lot of people, a sense of relief, and I feel like we’re headed in the right direction.”
