Jason Aldean has a new single out! The Georgia native released “Tough Crowd,” only a few days before the ACM Awards, where he will perform the rocking new anthem. The song, from a forthcoming new album, was written by his band members Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy, along with Marv Green, Kelley Lovelace, and Neil Thrasher.
“This is just a song to me that talks about our fans…about us onstage getting a bird’s-eye view of our fans that come in all shapes and sizes and colors,” Aldean explained. “It’s just really cool to look out and just see those people from all different walks of life come together for a show and have fun.”
“Tough Crowd” is part of Aldean’s next record, which follows his double Macon, Georgia project, with Macon out in November of 2021, and Georgia following in April of 2022. Macon, Georgia included his No. 1 hit, “If I Didn’t Love You” duet with Carrie Underwood, as well as “Trouble With a Heartbreak,” which became his 27th No. 1 single.
“I’m so thankful for the career I’ve had,” Aldean said on Country Countdown USA. “You get a couple No. 1 [hits], and then there’s ten, and 20. It’s so beyond what I imagined when I started this. I hope I’ve got a few more in me, but 27, I’m extremely proud of that for sure.”
Aldean hasn’t shared details on his next set of tunes, but he did hint that he would love to record something with his wife, Brittany, at some point in his career.
“Brit’s a great singer,” Aldean said on Audacy’s Stars and Strings. “It’s one of those things where, to me, it all comes down to the song. If you find the right song, I think that’s really the key. It’s definitely something I’m not opposed to at all if the right thing came along and made sense. I would actually love to get her in the studio and cut some vocals. I don’t think she’s ever done that before. That would be cool. She’d be a little reluctant until she got in there. I think she’d be great.”
Aldean will have plenty of chances later this year to perform songs from his next record. The father of four will embark on his Highway Desperado Tour on July 14, with Mitchell Tenpenny, Corey Kent and Dee Jay Silver joining him on the road.
The 46-year-old is nominated for one ACM Award, for Entertainer of the Year. Aldean shares the category with Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Underwood and Morgan Wallen,
Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton will host the ACM Awards ceremony. The 2023 ACM Awards will take place on Thursday, May 11 at 8:00 PM ET, streaming live on Amazon Prime Video, from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. A very limited number of tickets remain to enjoy the ceremony in person, at SeatGeek.com.
