The new duet between Jelly Roll and Alexandra Kay is out. The two friends recorded “Leave The Light On,” for the Twisters movie, as part of a star-studded collaboration that also includes songs by Shania Twain, Thomas Rhett, Megan Moroney, Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson and more.
Jelly Roll and Kay could perform this song live together, beginning next month. Kay will join Jelly Roll on his Beautifully Broken Tour, which kicks off on August 27. The duet and upcoming tour dates are just part of an enduring friendship between the two talented singers, which has only grown stronger in recent years.
Kay praised the “Save Me” singer, after she had the opportunity to open for him last year at the North Dakota State Fair.
“I got to witness this incredible human play to 18,000 people last night,” Kay shared on social media. “In the midst of his sky rocket to the top he is always reaching out a hand to someone who looks up to him. Last night, and many times before… that hand was extended to me. The words he spoke of me and my career on the stage last night will stay with me forever.. and the opportunity to perform in front of his loyal and dedicated fan base was an absolute honor. Thank you Jelly Roll and ND State Fair for having me!”
This isn’t the only song Jelly Roll has on the Twisters soundtrack. He also just released “Dead End Road” from the soundtrack.
Combs has a Top 10 single with “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” the first song released from the soundtrack. Wilson also released “Out of Oklahoma,” ahead of the movie’s release. The film is about a woman named Kate Carter, a former stormchaser. It’s a story that felt oddly familiar to Wilson, especially ahead of the release of her new Whirlwind record.
“It’s wild how life throws a theme at you,” Wilson said when the song was released. “My life the past few years has felt like a twister…hence why I titled my new album Whirlwind. So when I got the opportunity to write a song for the new Twisters movie, it was a challenge I couldn’t pass up. Reading Kate’s story, I found a lot of parallels between our lives. We’re both chasing wild and crazy careers, but they make us feel something and give us a sense of home.”
Prior to heading out on the Beautifully Broken Tour, Kay will headline her own All I’ve Ever Known: The Tour Chapter Two, which kicks off on Friday, July 19. Find her music and tour dates at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
