When Alexandra Kay was invited to serve as one of the opening acts on Jelly Roll‘s Beautifully Broken Tour, it was a chance not only for her to watch one of country music’s reigning superstars in action, but also for her to spend time with one of her close friends, and biggest fans.
During a recent show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jelly Roll took the time to praise Kay, and her unstoppable work ethic, in front of the large crowd.
“Before she leaves the stage, I want to tell you a little bit about this young woman,” Jelly Roll said. “This young woman in our business, she does it what we call completely independently, which means she has no record label. She has no financer. She has absolutely nothing. It’s her and her best friend, Beth. They’re doing this completely by themself. She has worked her a– off to get on this tour right here.
“She is one of the greatest singers, one of the greatest songwriters,” he continued. “My wife’s a fan, I’m a fan, our daughter’s a fan. Support independent music, but as a girl dad, more importantly, support independent women. Make some noise for Alexandra Kay.”

Jelly Roll and Kay combined their talents for the song, “Leave the Light On,” part of the Twisters movie, out now. The love and admiration for each other clearly goes both ways, with Kay praising Jelly Roll when she was invited to open for him last year at the North Dakota State Fair.
“I got to witness this incredible human play to 18,000 people last night,” Kay shared on social media. “In the midst of his sky rocket to the top he is always reaching out a hand to someone who looks up to him. Last night, and many times before… that hand was extended to me. The words he spoke of me and my career on the stage last night will stay with me forever.. and the opportunity to perform in front of his loyal and dedicated fan base was an absolute honor. Thank you Jelly Roll and ND State Fair for having me!”
Earlier this year, the “I Am Not Okay” singer also invited Kay to perform with him at the Grand Ole Opry, during one of the biggest weeks of the year for country music.
“You know how much my whole family loves you,” Jelly Roll said at the time. “My daughter loves you, my wife loves you. We’re excited. … You’re family. You’re now like my newest little sister.”
Kay recently celebrated her five-year anniversary of being an independent artist. Find all of her music, including her debut All I’ve Ever Known album, at AlexandraKayOfficial.com.
