Jelly Roll Drops ‘Run It’ From ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Film [WATCH]

Jelly Roll just released the video for “Run It,” a song from the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, out on December 20. “Run It” is the only original song on the forthcoming soundtrack. Jelly Roll wrote the song with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, DJ David Guetta and Sean Cook.

Not only does Jelly Roll sing “Run It,” but he also has a part in the accompanying video, which shows Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles racing around an arena ahead of Jelly Roll’s performance. Jelly Roll appears both as himself and as an avatar in the video, along with  Jim Carrey, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and more, who also make cameo appearances.

“Run It” isn’t the only song that Jelly Roll has in a film in 2024. The Nashville native also has two songs in the recent Twisters film, both “Leave the Light On,” a duet with Alexandra Kay, and “Dead End Road.” The star-studded soundtrack also featured songs by  Shania TwainThomas RhettMegan Moroney, Miranda LambertLainey Wilson and  , among others. Combs recently had a No. 1 hit with “‘Oklahoma” from the film, earning high praise from Jelly Roll.

“That ‘Oklahoma’ song that Luke Combs has is just unbelievable,” Jelly Roll told Canada’s Etalk. “That Tyler Childers song they just released is unreal. The talent of it looks like they put together a soundtrack that record labels in Nashville couldn’t put together. It’s awesome. They left no stone unturned.”

It’s possible that Jelly Roll could have an even bigger role in a film than just providing the music next year. The country music hitmaker recently revealed he was not touring in 2025, so he could pursue another one of his passions: acting.

“This is breaking news for Jelly Roll. I’m not going to headline a tour in America next year,” he announced on The Pat McAfee Show. “It’ll be my first year not headlining a tour in America since 2020, but before that, it was like 2012. It’s been a long time, so I think we’ve done enough this year. I’m going to do all those festivals next year, and I think I’m going to get into a little television, maybe.”

“It’s real,” he added. “I got a couple of cookers in there, man.”

This isn’t the first time Jelly Roll has said he would like to explore opportunities in front of a camera instead of behind a microphone. In 2023, the “Liar” singer said he was already eyeing other opportunities outside of country music.

“I want to act, really bad,” Jelly Roll told Audacy. “I know it sounds weird. I never thought I would act, but I’ve been really inspired by what Machine Gun Kelly has done with his career the last three years. I’m one of the old-school guys, and this is weird, but if I see somebody do something, whatever in me, since I was a kid, instantly goes, ‘Oh, that’s doable.’”
