Jelly Roll Feels ‘Really Good’ After Losing More than 70 Pounds

Jelly Roll is less of a man than he used to be. The Nashville native is on a quest to get healthy and lose weight, already shedding more than 70 pounds, done by a combination of making better dietary and lifestyle choices, and making exercise a part of his daily routine.

“I’m probably down 70-something pounds,” Jelly Roll reveals to People. “I’ve been really kicking a—. I’m doing two to three miles a day, four to six days a week. I’m doing 20 to 30 minutes in the sauna, six minutes in a cold plunge every day. I’m eating healthy right now.”

Jelly Roll has already made remarkable progress, but he is determined to get even healthier, especially as he prepares for his Beautifully Broken Tour that kicks off later this year.

“I feel really good,” boasts the 39-year-old. “I was thinking, I plan on losing another 100, 100-and-something [pounds]. If I feel this good down this weight, man, I can only imagine what I’m going to feel like by the time I go on tour.”

Jelly Roll loves performing his music live and in front of a crowd. But he also enjoys connecting with his fans, which is why he is so eager to embark on his next tour.

“I’ve always said this and I mean it:  I know my music touches people different,” Jelly Roll shares. “My songs aren’t something you listen to by the pool on a Saturday. My music’s something you listen to that really gets you through something, and it means so much to stand in front of them and meet as many them as I can every night. I wish I could have lunch with anybody my song’s ever helped.”

Jelly Roll’s career continues its fast ascent. After winning his first major awards at the 2023 CMT Music Awards, Jelly Roll won the  CMA Award for New Artist of the Year, followed by a Grammy Awards nomination, two People’s Choice Country Awards, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and most recently three more CMT Music Awards.

“It’s just really cool to see — I think people understand that I represent a group of people that aren’t properly represented,” Jelly Roll said backstage after the CMT Music Awards. “And when I win, we win. It’s like a win for a whole bunch of those kind of misfit people. I’m a straight-up misfit. I’m as white trash as I look like I am. I am who I am all the time. What you see here is what you see at a dinner table.”

He will soon likely need a bigger shelf for his awards, since he is nominated for four ACM Awards, including the night’s highest honor, Entertainer of the Year.

“I didn’t expect to get this many,” Jelly Roll tells People. “Even when I had a shelf built, I had it built for what I won last year thinking that was probably the best year of my life. I don’t know what to do about this thing still running.”

“Not every awards show in America’s giving an opportunity to the guy that’s talking against fentanyl and representing the people I speak about,” he adds. “And to see four nominations just showed me how much my peers and the industry cares about what I think, even my core messages outside of the music.”

Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken Tour kicks off on August 27. He will be joined on tour by Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay, who will serve as his opening acts. Find all of Jelly Roll’s music and tour dates at JellyRoll615.com.
