Jelly Roll is opening up about his physical transformation. The Nashville native has already lost more than 110 pounds, with a goal of losing 100 more in 2025. Jelly Roll opens up about his decision to get healthy, in a video shared on sical media, with Jelly Roll at the top of a mountain.
“I realized today that there are some days when I get out here in this process of trying to make this massive life change, that somedays I come out here and I feel great,” he says. “I mean, from the moment we start, I feel good all the way through. I only feel better when I leave. But today kind of reminded me that sometimes you have those days where you just don’t feel it at all. And even as you get walking, you don’t feel it. Your heartbeat starts pumping. You still don’t completely feel it.
“But those are the most gratifying, to go do that work,” he continues, “Because I think that made me remember to tell you all, we can’t live in a false sense of this thing not sucking. You’re making this big of a life change, it’s gonna hurt, be painful. I’m sore all the time … Stick with this. I want to see you make the choice. We are going to do this thing together.”

In a separate video, the 40-year-old shares why he is starting the Losers Running Club, with the goal of everyone being able to run the 2 Bears 5K in Tampa on May 4. For Jelly Roll, his desire to change came from doing a mundane activity at home, which made him realize he needed to get healthy.
“A little bit over a year ago, I literally struggled to walk down my hill to my mailbox,” Jelly Roll recalls. “It was really bad. And I had let myself get to a point of just being absolutely disgusted with myself. I was just sick and tired of it, and I was like, ‘Man, I’m gonna figure this out.’ And about the time I was trying to find something to motivate me, I saw the … 5K by May.”
Jelly Roll walked his first 5K last year, thanks to a lot of support from others. Now, he wants to pay it forward.
“I thought, ‘I would like to provide a similar opportunity for people going into this 5K,” Jelly Roll says, adding that he hopes he can inspire others to believe in themselves. “I know how rough it was at first and how embarrassed I was to just be sucking snot and air as I walked down the driveway. But it felt so good to have friends behind me, telling me I was doing the right thing. People cheering for me when I walked my first 5K. I believe that we can create huge change right here. I believe that a group of people can come together right now and encourage each other to actually become what they’ve been dreaming they could be.”
The “I Am Not Okay” singer has already shown off a massive physical change, but he says the best change might be in his mind.
“I can’t even begin to describe to people how better and mentally-focused I am,” he says. “More clear-headed and energetic I am, happier I am with life in general now that I’m eating healthy, exercising, cold-plunging. It’s possible, and it’s not overwhelming. It’s just dedicating a little time each day, and a little more time than you did the day before the next day.”
