Jimmie Allen is encouraging grace and compassion, as the country continues to deal with the death of George Floyd. While protests and riots have erupted across the nation, Jimmie is providing a welcome message of hope and understanding, in a time when we all need it the most.
“One thing that I’ve been doing with my black friends and my black family, I’ve been telling them, ‘In the midst of wanting to get your point across, delivery’s everything,” Jimmie said on The Bobby Bones Show. “‘Hateful words don’t welcome a listening ear. You have to give information, give your point of view, but still give people time to process things the way they need to.’ The biggest thing isn’t about me telling them. The biggest thing is about making sure people can understand and process things the way they need to.
“I can sit here and just yell and yell and yell, and nobody understands what I’m saying,” he continued. “That defeats the whole purpose of what this movement is. I feel like this movement is big on love and understanding. It has to be understanding from both sides.”
The Delaware native earlier spoke out about the injustice following George’s death, but also gave an honest lookk at what it is like being a black man, especially now.

“The continued non value of life towards black men in America concerns me,” Jimmie said, as part of a lengthy statement he posted on social media. “As a black man and a father raising a black boy I’m worried. The uncertainty of his safety turns my stomach. I challenge everyone to love each other and let our hearts speak louder than the injustice. Love so loud that it suffocates the hate.”
Jimmie also shared his thoughts during Blackout Tuesday, encouraging people to do more than just speak out about something because it was a social media trend.
“When you post your black square have a purpose,” he urged in a lengthy tweet. “Don’t do it just because it’s the newest social media trend.”
