John Rich may not be happy with the way Mayor John Cooper is running the city of Nashville, but he’s still proud to be an American. The singer toasted the country on social media, with a shot of his own Redneck Riviera.
“America, here’s to you,” John shared on social media. “Here’s to our veterans, our active duty, our first responders and our police. May God bless each and every one of those men and women. We hold up this shot of Redneck Riviera Whiskey, in honor of each and every one of them. America, stay tough, stay strong. We’re gonna get through it … God bless America.”

John also owns Redneck Riviera bar in downtown Nashville, which is currently closed due to the return to a modified Phase 2 in Music City, put in place by Mayor Cooper. As part of the plan, places that make most of their revenue from alcohol must remain closed at least through July 31, and potentially longer.
“Just so I’m clear,” John posted on social media. “1. The virus IS dangerous in a bar that serves food. 2. The virus is NOT dangerous in a restaurant that serves liquor. 3. The virus IS dangerous at a baseball game or in a church building. 4. The virus is NOT dangerous on a packed airplane. Got it.”
John was among the first to reopen his bar when Nashville initially moved to Phase 3, allowing bars to open, and praised the customers for abiding by the guidelines.
“Of course there’s a lot of rules, regulations, stuff that you have to do, correctly to open safely and carefully but we’ve done that and I’ve honestly been really proud of our customers that they follow the rules,” John told PopCulture.com. “I was wondering, ‘Are we gonna have to separate people? Are people gonna get upset?’
“I think they’re just so happy to be able to go to a bar, get a Redneck Riviera whiskey and Coke, barbecue sandwich and just be somewhere else,” he added. “That’s the last thing they’re gonna do is cause any trouble. It’s been a good experience so far.”
