Jon Pardi is joining the Grand Ole Opry! The singer was invited to join by Alan Jackson, with a little help from Food Network star Guy Fieri, during Pardi’s performance at Stagecoach.
It was Fieri who told Pardi Jackson had a message for him, in front of the massive crowd, directing Pardi’s attention to a large video screen.
“The Grand Ole Opry has always meant a lot to me, and everybody in country music,” Jackson said. “And I’ve been appreciating your music ever since you toured with me a few years ago. And so I get the honor to invite you in front of all of your Stagecoach friends out there, to be the first native from California to become an official member of the Grand Ole Opry.”
Opry Executive Producer, Dan Rogers, brought out an Opry microphone for Pardi to use.
“He debuted on the Opry stage almost ten years ago, and we love it every time he comes out and does a show,” Rogers said. “There’s a lot of history in this mic stand. There’s a great future in this mic stand. And tonight is historic, because Jon, not only are you the first person ever invited to become an Opry member here at Stagecoach, but this guy is the first native of California ever to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry.”
Pardi was understandably emotional as he took the stage and tried to articulate what the momentous occasion meant to him.
“I moved to Nashville chasing a dream at 22 years old and now I’m here,” Pardi gushed. “I love you guys and I love country music. Thank you, everybody. This is an amazing night. I’ll never forget it.
“I always wondered how this might happen if it was going to,” he added. “I never imagined anything this great. That was incredible.”
It’s been a big 2023 for Pardi so far. In addition to becoming the next Grand Ole Opry member, Pardi also became a first-time dad this year. The “Your Heart or Mine” singer and his wife, Summer, welcomed their daughter, Presley Fawn, into the world in January.
Pardi will have to squeeze in his upcoming Opry induction among his busy summer tour schedule. Find all of Pardi’s music and upcoming shows at JonPardi.com.
