Stray Dog, which includes both his “You, Me, and Whiskey” duet with Priscilla Block, as well as a collaboration with Riley Green on “Everybody Get Along,” will be out on May 5.
“A long time ago I decided I wasn’t going to play games or pursue things that didn’t make me happy,” Moore says of the project. “Perhaps that’s made me a bit of an outsider in this industry, but it’s also what allows me to go to bed each night feeling good about what I’m doing.”
Moore wrote “Everybody Get Along” with David Lee Murphy and Jeremy Stover.
“I have friends who live their lives the same way that I do, and I have friends that live their lives completely separate than I do, and a different way than I do,” Moore explains to BMLG of the inspiration behind the song. “And guess what? We’re still great friends, and we still have great dialogue, and we can still have conversation and fun with each other. And we can disagree and still love each other. To me, that’s the great thing about our country, if we would embrace that. But we don’t.
“We just bicker and fight and argue all the time,” he continues. “So, it’s kind of a lighthearted way of saying, hey, chill. Everybody chill. Let’s just have a beer together, and if we agree to disagree, we can high five or hug, or whatever, and still go watch a ball game or do whatever it is we wanna do.”
