Justin Moore‘s favorite holiday isn’t Thanksgiving or Christmas. For Justin and his wife Kate, their favorite holiday is July 4th, especially because there isn’t as much pressure as some of the other holidays.
“4th of July is my favorite holiday cause you don’t have to worry about gifts and all that good stuff,’ Justin told his record label. “And it’s also Kate’s favorite holiday. Her birthday’s the 5th of July, so she does a whole birthday week, kinda like Ella does for Valentine’s Day since her birthday is close to Valentine’s Day. And we’re always at the beach for 4th of July. That’s when we take our longest vacation of the summer, so it’s fun for me.
“I love summertime,” he continued. “I love the beach. I love the fact that I ain’t gotta buy nobody gifts or get any laughs. So the 4th of July is always a lot of fun. And the kids love the beach stuff. They love the fireworks, the whole bit.”
Justin just celebrated a No. 1 single with his patriotic “The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home.” The Arkansas native wrote the song to thank those in the Armed Forces for their service, never imagining that they would be the ones thanking him.
“It’s really humbling,” Justin said. “The thing that always kind of gets me is, no matter whether it be in a meet and greet or at the supermarket or whatever, when people come up to me who have served or currently serve, they always come up and thank me for our music. And I’m just kind of taken aback because I’m going, ‘No, no, no, no, we don’t do anything. You guys are the ones who should be thanked.’ And that’s what we tried to do with that song and video, and anytime we have the opportunity, we try to wave the flag for those men and women.”
