Keith Urban is so excited for his fans to hear his new music. The singer-songwriter shared a video on social media, after a recent show, where he opened up about his next set of tunes, and his eagerness to play them live.
“We just came off stage tonight in Niagara Falls, on the Canadian border, “Urban said. “I haven’t done one of these in forever, but I just felt compelled to let you know it was so fun to be back on stage, playing a full show tonight, ’cause we haven’t done one in a long time, so to have all you guys doing what you did tonight, 100 percent was amazing.
“We got to do new songs that we haven’t played fully, properly tonight, which is really fun, and we’ve got a lot more new songs coming very soon, and a whole album,’ he continued. “I’m so psyched for you guys to hear that. And then more shows. More dates coming up. More festivals.I can’t wait to see you out on the road soon. I love you.”

Urban’s last album, The Speed of Now Part 1, was released in 2020. Urban has been vocal about the album that wasn’t, when he realized after it was completed that the record wasn’t what he wanted, and he returned to the studio to start over.
“The previous album, I felt like I was 98 percent in when I was listening to it,” Urban says (via Country 103.7). “And that may sound like that’s good enough, but not for me. I have to believe in them from top to bottom. There can’t be one that I’m like, ‘Not sure about that one.’”
Unlike some of his other records, the new one is a streamlined album that concisely and succinctly says everything he wanted to say.
“The album got shorter, forty minutes, top to bottom,” Urban reveals. “The sequencing was important, as to how the album starts and how it ends. The stories, the tempos, the energies, and everything that happened in between are like an 11-song set list for me. It all made perfect sense to me.”
Urban’s new, still-unannounced project includes Straight Line,” his current single, “Messed Up As Me,” and his “Go Home W U” duet with Lainey Wilson.
“I wrote ‘Go Home W U’ in 2020 with BRELAND, Sam [Sumser] and Sean [Small)]” says Urban. “We had a blast writing it. It started out as a late-night drum loop, I grabbed a bass guitar and started playing a simple recurring bass line. Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world.”
“A friend of mine suggested the idea of making the song a duet and I immediately thought of Lainey,” he adds. “Besides the fact that I love her voice, she’s got the swagger and attitude that fit so well with the song.”
Urban will kick off his HIGH in Vegas residency on October 4 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Alll of Urban’s music and upcoming shows, at KeithUrban.com.
