Keith Urban will use every chance he can to honor those serving in the military. The New Zealand-born singer is proud to use his platform, often, to honor those serving in the armed forces.
“It’s one of the things I comment on fairly regularly when we’re playing concerts,” Urban tells UMG Nashville. “Especially outdoor festivals, where I look around and think it’s just amazing freedom to be able to do this, and it doesn’t effortlessly just come. A lot of people are devoting their life, their entire life, to going out and protecting and defending and honoring their own calling.
“So, I feel immensely grateful for all of the men and women in the military, all in the armed forces, all around the world, the sacrifice they make, especially their families too,” he adds.
Urban will spend more time performing in Las Vegas this year, as part of his Keith Urban: The Las Vegas Residency at Zappos Theater in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The father of two added more dates this fall, due to fan demand.

“I resisted a residency in Vegas for a few years. We got asked to come there quite a few years ago,” Urban told Billboard. “I just didn’t think I would like it because in my head, it just seemed like the word residency just felt like, ‘Oh, you’re just doing the same show in the same place night after night after night,’ and that just sounded like an episode of Severance to me. But when we saw the Colosseum, I was ‘Oh my God, I think we’ll have a blast in here.’ I was surprised how much I loved it.”
Urban is currently enjoying a Top 10 hit with his latest single, “Brown Eyes Baby.” The song is from a forthcoming new album, after his last record, The Speed of Now Part 1, was released in September of 2020. “Brown Eyes Baby” was written by Morgan Wallen, Josh Thompson, Rodney Clawson and Will Bundy,
“I found that Morgan was a writer on it maybe the day after or thereabouts,” Urban told Everything Nash during a virtual media event. “He didn’t sing the demo. I think Josh Thompson, who’s one of the other four writers on the song, sang the demo. But it also made sense. It’s a great song, and Morgan’s a great songwriter. I was just thrilled that he didn’t want to cut it.”
