Even celebrities get homesick, including country music superstar, Keith Urban, and his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. The two have been self-quarantined in Nashville during the coronavirus pandemic, along with their two daughters, but Keith admits they are both homesick for their native Australia.
“We want to be able to see our moms, too, and Nic’s sister is there, all of her family, my brother and his family,” Keith said (via People). “Everybody’s there so we’re really anxious to get back.”‘
Nicole hasn’t been able to get much exercise during their time at home, since she injured herself a few weeks ago on a walk.
“She broke her ankle so there’s not been a whole lot of dancing in the house,” Keith divulged. “About five weeks ago, she was running around the neighborhood as she does and just didn’t see a pothole and rolled her ankle and got a small break in her ankle.”
“She’s been relegated to the boot for the last handful of weeks and is still getting through it,” he continued. “But her spirits have been amazing, I gotta say. She’s been handling it way better than I would have.”
Nicole wore the boot to her husband’s surprise concert at a drive-in theater in Nashville last week, where he honored healthcare workers.
“I did this to say thanks to the healthcare workers who are putting their lives on the line for us every day,” Keith said of his show. “And performing in this environment, with everyone in their cars at a safe distance from one another, seems like an amazing opportunity for everybody to just let go and have fun….and I’m a musician, I HAVE TO PLAY!”
Keith will release his next album, The Speed of Now Part 1, on September 18. The record’s title happened long before the coronavirus pandemic, but seems especially timely while everyone is staying home.
“In October 2019 this album title came to me,” Keith shared. “I liked it because I felt like life was flying by so fast. But music has always been the place where it slows down and doesn’t even exist. I would never have imagined that, in 2020, this album title would take on a whole new meaning, and yet somehow still feel incredibly relevant.”
