Kenny Chesney has something special for his fans who are fortunate enough to see him at his Live at Sphere Las Vegas residency. The Tennessee native is giving fans a Sandbar experience, similar to what he does at his concerts. With a unique experience in Las Vegas, something Chesney has never done before, he still wanted to make the fans feel at home.
“I know this is a whole other way to play live,”Chesney says. “But that doesn’t mean we don’t feed like vampires off that energy down front. Everything the people in the Sandbar give us, we turn right around and put into the music. There’s a connection there that’s unlike any other. And when we look down, see everybody singing along, rocking out or dancing, it drives us to another level.”
Chesney also tapped renowned DJ Brandi Cyrus to help get the crowd energized and excited ahead of his performance each night.
“I wanted to make it about music, but I didn’t just want to throw a band up there,” the 56-year-old says. “With the space on the floor – no chairs, no sun beating down – what could we do to transform what we do somewhere else? What could be better than a DJ to get the dancing started early?”
Chesney also vows that, although the space remains the same, much like his concerts, no two shows will be alike at Live at Sphere Las Vegas.
“We’re going to leave room in each show to create a couple special moments that will be unique to that night,” promises the singer. “Maybe it’s a surprise guest, a song we will only play that specific night, but I’ve been blessed with an amazing group of friends, songs and players, so why not make each night something really individual for No Shoes Nation?”
When announcing the residency, the country music superstar hinted that fans attending his Vegas shows would experience something unable to be experienced anywhere else.
“As we’ve been rehearsing and thinking about how to present these songs in such an immersive way, the band and I have seen even more than we already know is in the music,” Chesney says on the Today Show. “We’re not reinventing all these songs, but for No Shoes Nation, I think there’s a whole new dimension to experience. Or as someone said, ‘No one consumes music like No Shoes Nation, and now the Nation’s going to be consumed by the music.’”
